Fırat University Principles Regarding Students Taking Courses from Other Higher Education Institutions’ Summer Schools
1. In order to take a course from the summer school of another higher education institution, the base score of the relevant department of the other higher education institution must be equal to or higher than the base score of the program in which the student is enrolled at Fırat University in the year of placement (YKS, TYT, DGS, etc.). If there is no base score for the relevant year at the other higher education institution, the base score of the most recent year is taken into consideration.
2. In a summer school, courses can be taken from more than one higher education institution, provided they are located in the same city.
3. Students of our university can take courses with the decision of the board of the department/program/major they are registered in, regarding course equivalence, and with the approval of the Dean/Directorate.
4. Students taking courses from other higher education institutions during the summer school can take a maximum of 3 (three) courses per summer school, not exceeding a total of 12 weekly hours based on the curriculum they are responsible for.
5. A student who wishes to take a course from another higher education institution during summer school applies in writing to the head of the department/program/major with documents showing the course content, ECTS, and national credit information of the course at that institution. Regardless of the equality of national and ECTS credits, the compatibility/adequacy of the course content is examined (if at least 8 weeks of a 14-week course content matches, it is considered equivalent), and with the decision of the board of the department/program/major and the approval of the dean/director, the student can take the course from the summer school of other higher education institutions.
6. At the end of the summer term, the student submits the approved transcript of the courses taken along with a petition to the head of the department/program/major; the grades in the transcript are converted to the grades specified in the “Fırat University Credit Transfer and Adaptation Directive” for associate and undergraduate students, and the decision of the administrative board of the relevant academic unit is sent to the Student Affairs Office to be entered into the Student Information System.
7. For the courses taken from other higher education institutions to be considered successful, associate and undergraduate students must meet the course passing grade specified in the “Fırat University Associate and Undergraduate Education Senate Principles.”
8. In order for a student to take a prerequisite course during summer school, the prerequisite of the relevant course must have been fulfilled.
9. A student taking a course from another higher education institution during the summer school cannot simultaneously do a summer internship. Summer school courses and summer internship days cannot overlap, even partially.
10. A student who only has to complete an individual course such as a Graduation Project/Graduation Thesis/Internship for graduation cannot take this course from the summer school of another higher education institution.
