Purpose:
The Double Major Coordination Office is responsible for ensuring the smooth implementation of double major programs within the department, which allow students to earn a second bachelor's degree. It oversees the effective management of application and admission processes and ensures regular academic monitoring of enrolled students.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
Coordination of Application and Admission Processes:
To evaluate applications of students applying for the double major program, identify eligible candidates who meet the necessary requirements, and carry out the departmental board approval process.
Academic Compatibility and Course Scheduling:
To support the planning of course selections for double major students in a way that avoids conflicts between the primary and secondary programs, and to provide appropriate guidance.
Providing Academic Advising:
To guide double major students through academic advising processes and to monitor their academic performance and graduation requirements.
Course Exemption and Equivalency Procedures:
To contribute to the organization of exemption/equivalency procedures when courses taken in the primary major overlap with those in the second major.
Official Correspondence and Document Management:
To ensure proper archiving and sharing of documents such as application forms, acceptance letters, transcripts, and enrollment records with relevant units.
Regulation Monitoring and Information Sharing:
To keep track of the latest YÖK and university regulations regarding double major programs and inform students and advisors accordingly.
Monitoring the Graduation Process:
To support the timely and accurate execution of graduation procedures for students who successfully complete the double major program.
