The Course Exemption and Adaptation Committee is responsible for evaluating the academic backgrounds of students who transfer from other universities or request course exemptions based on previously completed coursework, in order to determine course equivalencies and exemption decisions in alignment with the department curriculum.
Evaluation of Course Equivalency:
To review previously completed courses in terms of content and credit, and determine their equivalency to departmental courses.
Review of Exemption Requests:
To assess exemption applications submitted at the time of registration or within designated periods, based on course content, transcripts, and grading systems.
Preparation of Adaptation Tables:
To prepare and submit for approval the official exemption/adaptation table indicating the courses the student is exempt from and those that must be retaken.
Regulatory Compliance:
To ensure all processes comply with the regulations and guidelines of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), ÖSYM, and the university.
Managing Processes for Newly Admitted Students:
To carry out the adaptation procedures on time for newly admitted students through vertical transfer, horizontal transfer, special student status, double major, and minor programs.
Advisor Notification:
To inform academic advisors about students’ finalized exemption and adaptation statuses, facilitating proper guidance during course registration.
Official Correspondence and Archiving of Decisions:
To document committee decisions, submit them to the department board for approval, and conduct official correspondence with relevant units.
Student Notification:
To officially inform students about the courses they are exempt from and the ones they are required to take, based on committee decisions.
